Manager, CAD/PLM System

Livermore, CA

The Manager, CAD/PLM System Specialist will have the prime responsibility for the configuration, deployment, and evolution of the Siemens Team Center PLM system and it’s support team at GILLIG.
This person will work with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and IT to support the use of GILLIG’s ECAD, MCAD and PLM tools.
These tools are a critical foundational element in GILLIG’s product development and manufacturing process.
Assignments will cover all GILLIG products and are broad in variety, scope and in opportunity.
This is a leadership role that requires tactical decision making, given clear mission-oriented assignment and advising senior leadership on strategic issues.
This position reports to the Director of Current Product Engineering.

Responsibilities:

Build, improve and maintain the GILLIG CAD data product structure
Build and maintain PLM/PDM workflows
Provide engineering support, work with IT, vendors, and service providers to enable issues resolution and enhancements on PLM and CAD systems
Deliver onsite and remote support internal to the engineering organization
Establish and document CAD standards, engineering standards, best practices, processes, and rules for use of CAD tools and PLM system to optimize engineers’ efficiency
Provide training and training material for users
Continually optimize and provide mentoring for CAD and PLM tools
Contribute to the engineering CAD and PLM evolution roadmap
Build, deploy and optimize engineering tools and processes for design, manufacturing and change control
Support IT for license management including enrollment, monitoring, and troubleshooting
Monitor and track support issues
Lead team of ECAD and MCAD specialists, standard parts specialists, and librarians
Play an instrumental part in transforming GILLIG’s CAD environment to NX/Teamcenter and Zuken E3
Operate with minimal supervision while supporting vehicle, system, and sub system engineers

Qualification:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5+ years of progressive experience in the industry
Previous responsibility in management of PLM system (preferred)
4+ years of hands-on experience with Siemens NX
Expert knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter
Awareness of Zuken E3 or similar ECAD tools
Knowledge of MQL or SQL database query tools
Experience with Java Program Objects (JPOs) and TCL scripts
Prior experience in implementing and supporting software systems & tools
Thorough knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) concepts, including configuration management and change control
Prior experience in managing 3rd party engineering systems integrators
Prior experience working with global teams is a plus
Demonstrated leadership ability to ensure cohesive and effective team dynamics
Experience, or curiosity and interest in the transit or coach industry, or the willingness and ability to learn its unique challenges
Solid knowledge of ASME modeling and drafting standards, especially Y14.5
Experience with GD&T dimensioning applications, definitions, and implications
Experience designing components for efficient manufacturing and assembly
Strong process discipline, a documentation-focused attitude, and a passion for making engineering efficient

About The Environment:

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Working environment is primarily indoors (office and production environment), however, at times may require time spent outdoors.
Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk; occasionally kneel or squat.
May be required to work overtime based on business needs
Limited domestic travel
Typical start time 6:00AM (negotiable)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Submission Summary):

1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5+ years of progressive experience in the industry

2. Previous responsibility in management of PLM system (preferred)

3. 4+ years of hands-on experience with Siemens NX
